            SPECIAL COLLECTIONS CATALOGING PROCEDURE

                CATALOGING ANP AUTHOR COLLECTIONS

Reviewed Nov 17, 1998 by Richard Lindemann

ANP author collections of Blackburn, Oppen and Welch are kept
together as their libraries.

Occasionally, new items maybe accessioned into one of these
collections, which requires assigning an item call number that
allows interfiling the item in main entry order. Utilize decimal
numbers to shelflist the item properly:

     099 PS |a3552 |a.L342 |aZ99 |a214.5 |a Oppen

Always search PAC before adding an item to the collection; there
may be a record for it online. When accessioning added copies,
be sure to attach all item records to the same CULSP bib record.

Make a provenance note and appropriate local added name entry for
each item added:

590 UCSD's copy provenance: George Oppen.
     700 10 Oppen, George, |eformer owner.
     700 10 Oppen, George, |eannotator.

730 Always make an entry as follows:
730 0_ Archive for New Poetry.

Item LOC: cpa
