Autostats Codes To Use for Music & Media Cataloging Activities
For new cataloging, use:
COP for copy cataloging (has OCLC precedent); may include items lacking access points, subject headings, and classification.
IP for variant cataloging for new inputs into OCLC where you have related precedent. "Related" should be used fairly strictly to include different publications or releases of the same work (if item is a score or video) or different releases of the same performance of the same piece (if item is a sound recording). Co-publication with additional material generally pushes the item into original cataloging unless the material is as ephemeral as program notes or different binding.
IN for original cataloging where you input an new OCLC record when there is no cataloging precedent for the same work (if item is a score or video) or the same performance of the same piece (if item is a sound recording).
SA for providing classification or subject headings when the original OCLC record lacks them entirely. Generally, do not use for situations where you would add local subject headings to an item already having general ones.
For modifications to existing cataloged records, use:
AV for an added volume when processing a subsequent volume to a set that has already been cataloged. This activity may include editing the bibliographic record to add contents or other important information, and may involve creating additional item records. Do not use for analytics or for items within a multi-volume set cataloged cataloged together at one time.
ENH for any time you need to lock and replace an existing OCLC record to modify its content. May include formal enhancement of scores or books, upgrades from minimal-level cataloging, or database enrichment to add information lacking in the original record.
CORR for making corrections to a cataloged record in INNOPAC when the operation takes over 10 minutes.
REC used when an existing deficient, but already-cataloged INNOPAC bibliographic record is withdrawn or overlaid with a completely new one. Usually you will be adding the code to the new record, as the old one may be deleted before statistics are run.
AM for noting or processing additional material to an item when the operation requires over 5 minutes.
AEC for adding additional electronic copies to an existing physical object. Currently, this is not being done within the unit, but this code will be held in reserve if we're asked to do so.
