PROCEDURES FOR AAL SERIALS PROCESSING

Please don't hesitate to ask us anytime you have a serials question, no matter how minor. We have done a lot of cross-training so hopeful y we always have someone available to help you. Routine transfers, withdrawal , reclassification, and problem-solving can be handled at any time. We would appreciate notification in advance for large projects to make sure we have staff available.

TRANSFERS

When the record states that Latest ed. is in AAL Ref. (and back issues are retained), Vickie will move the earlier year to the AAL stacks when a new edition is received. There is no need to notify us. In all other cases (transfers within AAL and to/from other collections), follow this procedure:

AAL (Vickie) will send to the Serials Acquisitions Unit (Stacy) pieces to be withdrawn from the collection.

RECLASSIFICATION (Changing the call number)

AAL (Vickie) will send to DISC Section (Ryan Finnerty) all of the physical pieces to be reclassified along with instructions for new location coding and retention.
