A practical guide for everyday depository processing. The Manual provides an overview of the depository program sponsored by GPO, as well as the Guidelines for the Depository Library System. The manual should be reviewed annually by depository staff.
A quarterly list, arranged in SuDoc order, of all active items available to Depository libraries. Appendix contains item number list with all attached SuDoc stems.
This publication lists superseded GPO publications. Arranged in SuDoc order, the list is a major tool for identifying materials which may be discarded before the normal 5-year retention period, without submitting them on weeding lists for the Regional Library. The list is frequently updated in the Technical Supplement of Administrative Notes.
An irregularly issued publication which lists inactive and discontinued item numbers issued by GPO. The list is not completely current, but is a useful source of information for many item numbers.
This publication contains a thorough explanation of the development and current practices of SuDoc classifica-tion. The manual describes current policy as well as earlier policies which resulted in very different classification numbers for some documents. It contains a very useful section on assigning SuDoc numbers when they have not been provided by GPO.
An internal working document for GPO catalogers. Useful for understanding GPO cataloging records.
A biweekly Newsletter of the Federal Depository Library Program. Contains news of LPS and the Depository library community. Covers range of topics, from new GPO products to how individual libraries handle materials. The TECHNICAL SUPPLEMENT (ANTS) contains GPO changes and corrections, new item numbers, updates to the List of Classes, What ever happened to...column, etc. Technical Supplement must be reviewed by processing staff.
WEBTech Notes is designed to be an interactive, on-line resource for depository librarians to query ANTS. WEBTech Notes contains information from the ANTS butis not an exact replica of the paper version of ANTS. The WEBTech Notes database is cumulated on a weekly basis. It provides information available far in advance of the paper issuance of ANTS.
A feature of GPO Access designed to expedite the submission inquiries
and communication with LPS personnel. ASKLPS includes: Inquiry forms,
WEBTech notes, FAQs and News, Contacts, and the Federal Library
Depository Directory. http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fdlp/tools/asklpsin.html
