This genre heading was identified by the San Diego Circuit participants as a genre/form heading for use on records for all Internet resources.
It is used for records for independent Internet resources and composite records for print (or micro or CD) and Internet versions, including government documents.
It is NOT be used for related web sites (e.g., table of contents, abstracts, finding aids).
The heading has an internal tag of "w" (SPECIAL). It displays in both ROGER and Circuit with the label GENRE/FORM. It indexes in ROGER/PAC in the (LC) SUBJECT index; it indexes in Circuit in the GENRE index. It indexes in MELVYL in the SUBJECT index and displays with the label SUBJECTS.
2. 690 Infocomp-CD
If adding remote electronic version information to a record for a CD-ROM, use the local subject heading "Infocomp-CD." Use this term whenever one of the versions is a CD-ROM (e.g., if we have print, CD and Internet). This heading serves as as a retrieval mechanism in the event we need to recatalog these nonstandard records.
The following headings have been DISCONTINUED:

These headings should be deleted when the 856 indicators are updated to the current definitions.
3. $x Web sites
Headings which duplicate the LC subject headings on the catalog record in 69x fields with the form subdivision $x Web sites have been DISCONTINUED. They can be deleted.
