Put attached item records in the following order by branch:
ROGER DISPLAY
SSH
AAL
BML
CLICS
CMRR
IR/PS
MCL
MUS
S&E
SIO
SPEC*
SSH Docs
SRLF
NET
This order is based on the order for checkin records (see http://tpot.ucsd.edu/Cataloging/Formats/checkinorder.html). The logic of this order is that SSH has the largest number of users so it would most convenient for them to have SSH be listed first. The rest of the branches are listed in alphabetic order by Roger display with the exception of NET. The URL for Internet resources appears prominently above the item record information, so it is not necessary to have the NET item record display before item records for other branches.
Sometimes a branch will have two or more item records with multiple locations within a branch listed on a bibliographic record. List the copies in the order that they are most available to the user. Example:
S&E Reference
S&E Stacks
S&E Micro
S&E Circ Desk
S&E Annex
The Reference copy is listed first because it is always available for the user. The Stacks copy is listed second because it can be charged out. Micro is listed third because it can still be retrieved by the patron but requires special equipment to read it. The Circ Desk copy is listed fourth because it is housed on-site and the Annex is listed last because it is located off-site.
*Only Special Collections dissertations will share records with other branches. All other Special Collections materials are cataloged on separate bibliographic records.
