| Nonpublic general note
Used in records being updated. Also used to give scope of heading to
the cataloger.
UCSD Usage:
CIP discrepancy: "CIP discrepancy. LCAF heading: <heading>"
A CIP discrepancy note is used when the cataloger determines that the
LCAF form of a heading is incorrect because it was based on an incorrect
form from a CIP bib record.
Example:
667 _ _ CIP discrepancy. LCAF heading: Ramsey, Edward,|d1949-
Conference proceedings: "Conference classed together as: <call
no.>"
Science libraries classify conference proceedings together. Use field
667 to indicate the selected classification number. See Conference
proceedings: cataloging sequential conference proceedings for the science
branches
Example:
667 _ _ Conference classed together as: QH325.3.C734 1994|5CUS
NACO: "NACO record in process"
A NACO note is added when an LCNAF record has been created by UCSD for
a heading. The InnoPac authority record will be replaced by the LCNAF
record when it becomes available on OCLC.
Example:
667 _ _ NACO record in process
Ser UT: "ser ut"
This note indicates that the heading is authorized for use as a serial
uniform title.
Example:
667 _ _ ser ut
Treatment: "Treat as analyzed serial for <branch>"
For series authority records, treatment information is recorded in the
667 field. Use the following abbreviations for libraries: AAL, BML, CLICS,
CMRR, DOCS, EastAsia, FVL, IR/PS, MCL, MUS, SIO, SPEC, and SSH.
Example:
667 _ _ Treat as analyzed serial for IR/PS|5CUS
Special Collections Dept.:
Special Collections Dept. catalogers use 678 notes to give additional
information about particular headings.
Example:
667 _ _ Printer and bookseller in Boston and Hingham, Mass., from 1769
to 1819|5CUS
