Charge
The Space Committee is charged to develop, design, and implement new work spaces for the Metadata Services Department as needed, in consultation with affected employees, units, divisions, and departments. This includes negotiating with supervisors and staff to reach consensus (this may not always mean 100% agreement); developing floorplans (including an inventory of panels and work surfaces needed); purchasing panels, work surfaces, and furniture; coordinating with Facilities, IT, and ACT; and assisting staff with packing and moving their workstations as needed.
Guiding principles include:
Membership and reporting
The Space Committee reports to the Department Head and will maintain open communication with the department, providing ongoing reports on progress. Building on the experience of previous space committees, the Space Committee will be composed of permanent members: the Assistant Department Head, the Administrative Assistant, and the DSSL, plus a representative from each Division. This composition allows for broad representation plus effective administrative and computer support, and continuity based on experience. In addition, representative(s) from unit(s) may be appointed if practical for particular projects. The group will not have standing meetings, but will meet as needed.
