Metadata Services Department

Pantry Policies and Guidelines

This Pantry is to be used by Metadata Services Deparment staff and students.

Pantry use

  1. A "pantry user" is anyone who uses the pantry. (i.e. getting drinking water, washing hands in the sink, using the microwave, etc.)
  2. All staff users are expected to take turns cleaning the pantry and refrigerator. Users will be assigned a date for cleaning and will be responsible for swapping dates.
  3. Food in the refrigerator should be in a lunchbox, labeled bag, or container. Any item without a dated label is fair game for tossing. The earlier the date, the more likely it will be tossed.
  4. Cleaning is done once a week on Thursday or Friday.
  5. Disposal of unlabeled contents in the refrigerator is up to the judgment of the cleaner.
  6. Store all condiments in the door of the refrigerator.
  7. The Department is not responsible for stolen or disposed items from the refrigerator or pantry area.
  8. Owners of personal appliances in the pantry are responsible for their maintenance, use, etc.
  9. Do not water plants in the sink.

Food preparation

  1. Users are expected to clean up after themselves whenever they use the pantry.
  2. Cover food when using the microwave and clean microwave afterwards.
  3. Do not use the toaster and microwave simultaneously.
  4. Do not leave food unattended while it is heating/cooking.
  5. No microwave popcorn.
  6. Do not leave dishes soaking in the sink.
  7. Do not leave dishes to dry on the counter.
  8. Dispose of food in the trash, not in the sink.
  9. Do not take or eat food that does not belong to you.

Personal appliances are not allowed at one's desk.
