Cataloging electronic reference books policy

MSD will accept individual requests from bibliographers to catalog electronic reference books.  These electronic reference texts must be open access resources (or out of copyright) and provide full text. Any full text resource that supports our research collections is eligible (the text does not necessarily have to replace a print volume in our collection).

Per our usual policy, these resources will be cataloged on separate records (in other words, MSD is not simply adding a link to the print equivalent). We prefer Hathi Trust records and links, but Google Books records and links are also acceptable. These materials will be cataloged for UCSD and not distributed to other campuses via SCP. MSD will attach holding symbols in WorldCat and adjust the master records so these materials will also be findable in Next Generation Melvyl.

No blanket selection of groups of materials is permitted. To submit a cataloging request, use the Request to catalog an Internet Resource form.
